Roaming with Ncell: All You Need to Know

Roaming used to be extremely expensive, especially Pay-As-You–Go rates or on prepaid packages. In some destinations, roaming costs have been going down. In others, prices have stayed the same (or even gone up). What about at Ncell? Today, we will explore all the roaming options you with Ncell. Let's dive into it.

Can I roam with Ncell?

Roaming is possible with Ncell on both Ncell Pro plans and Ncell Prepaid packages. If you wish to data roam with Ncell Prepaid, then you need to enable the Ncell Daily Unlimited Data Roaming Pack, which starts at NRs 100 (Nepalese Rupees) per and allows you to roam in 59 destinations. Ncell Pro users can roam with or without the pack.

Both Ncell Prepaid and Ncell Pro users have the option to call internationally from within Nepal starting from NRs 1.99/min (NRs 2.54 if TSC (13%) and VAT (13%) are added to the price).

What do I need to know about Ncell Prepaid Roaming?

The Ncell roaming service allows you to stay in touch with your friends and family when away from home in 83 destinations. The service allows you to send text messages, make aind receive calls, obtain your balance information, and recharge your account while abroad. Data roaming requires the Ncell Daily Unlimited Data Roaming pack.

The roaming service is automatically enabled for all prepaid users. However, default roaming is not available in Bangladesh, India, and China. If you wish to roam in any of these destinations, then you have to dial *17129# and follow the instructions to activate roaming. Activation is free of charge.

What are the international roaming charges for Ncell Prepaid users?

What do I need to know about Ncell Pro Roaming?

The Ncell roaming service allows you to stay in touch with your friends and family when away from home in 114 destinations. The service allows you to make calls, send texts & MMS messages (only between Ncell customers), and use data while abroad.

However, self-activation is possible if you want to visit any of the 28 destinations below. With self-activation, you do not have to visit a Ncell center nor fill in the Roaming Self Activation form.

Activating roaming through Self Activation is a quick process. Dial *17129# and follow the instructions.

If you want to enable data, you have to send “A” to 900224 before you leave Nepal. If you are already abroad, you can dial *100# to activate data roaming.

What is Ncell Daily Unlimited Data Roaming?

The Ncell Daily Unlimited Data Roaming allows you to data roam in 59 destinations at a set price starting from NRs 100 (excluding tax). Ncell Prepaid users are required to get this pack if they wish to roam abroad.

You can activate the pack before roaming or when you are roaming already.

You will be charged on your first data usage and the day resets at midnight Nepal Standard Time (UTC +5:45).

The renewing cycles will continue until you are back in Nepal, go to a non-Daily Unlimited Data Roaming destination, or until it has been renewed for 15 days (whichever comes first). If the pack has been renewed for 15 days, then the pack will automatically be deactivated. You can then reactivate it.

To activate Daily Unlimited Data Roaming, you have to dial *17129# and follow the instructions. Activation is free of charge.

Where can I use Ncell Daily Unlimited Data Roaming?

The Daily Unlimited Data Roaming destinations can be split into three zones. Zone 1 destinations will cost you NRs 100/day (all prices are excluding tax). Zone 2 destinations will cost you NRs 442/day. Zone 3 destinations will costs you NRs 844/day.

Can I roam on planes with Ncell?

In-flight roaming is not possible with Ncell.

Can I roam on cruise ships with Ncell?

Maritime roaming is not available with Nell.

Is roaming with Ncell worth it?

Ncell gives its customers many roaming options. As a result, it can be overwhelming to make a decision on what option you would like.

I would not recommend to roam on Pay Per Use rates, as that can add up quickly. However, Ncell Data Roaming unlimited is something that may be of interest to you, as the prices are fixed.

Then again, after a certain number of days, it may be cheaper to get a local SIM card instead of using Ncell, even though it may be more convenient. Especially if you are not in a zone 1 destination.

You can also decide to get a local SIM card or an international SIM card like OneSimCard, SimOptions, Surfroam, BNESIM, or SimCorner instead of roaming – those options can be cheaper than roaming. Or you can connect to free WIFI hotspots.

In short, I would consider the Ncell Data Roaming Options if you want to roam abroad. Pay Per Use roaming gets expensive quickly and should be avoided.
