You heard that right, no silly fair-use policies. Want to download 1000 GB of data? You can! And be sure to mail me when you do because I would be impressed!
If you have read my Buying a SIM Card in Taiwan Guide, then you know that Taiwan has 5 operators: Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Taiwan Mobile (Myfone), FarEasTone (FET), Taiwan Star (T Star), and APTG GT Mobile (known as simply GT Mobile).
There is also one Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) called Ibon Mobile that is available to travelers.
What about those unlimited data plans? Each operator, except Ibon Mobile, has something they call airport plans, which are tourist plans sold at international airports (not all of them – Chunghwa Telecom and Taiwan Mobile sell them at smaller international airports, while FarEasTone Taiwan Star (T Star), and APTG GT Mobile sell them at Taiwan International Airport/Taoyuan International Airport only).
These airport plans will last you from anywhere from 3 days to 30 days and come with credit. Lovely!
As I am still in Taiwan right now and have started to write reviews (as of September 2020). However, it will take some time to write a written review for all the operators.
If you want me to inform you once I have written a particular review of an operator, or have written the Taiwan SIM card comparison article to find the best SIM card in Taiwan, then you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and ask me to send you a message once the article is live.
Sending an email to that email address will NOT sign you up for the Phone Travel Wiz Newsletter. Instead, I will give you a personal heads up when a review is live or the the comparison is live (it takes a while to go through everything). That will be the only time I will email you then.
You can, of course, sign up for the Phone Travel Wiz Newsletter and get an excel sheet of the best local prepaid SIM cards in over 230 destinations around the world, updated monthly. At least once a month, I will also send you an email with relevant information related to traveling (with your phone, of course that is what Phone Travel Wiz is about 😉 )
