5.0 rating

Heading to Panama to explore the country and are in need of a Panamanian SIM card? In this video, I will tell you everything you need to know about SIM cards in Panama and which one is the best!

This video is for both tourists/travelers visiting Panama and those already living in Panama planning on buying a (new) Panamanian SIM card.

In Panama, there are 4 mobile operators, which are +móvil Panama by Cable & Wireless (also known as más móvil), Claro Panama, Digicel Panama, and Movistar Panama. All providers have 2G, 3G, and 4G/LTE networks. The Panamanian providers are planning on rolling out 5G in select areas in 2020 or 2021.

What do you need to know about mobile data in Panama? Most providers cover more than 90% of the population, but only 40% of the territory in Panama. As long as you are in populated areas, you should have a connection. You should not expect any kind of reception if you go to places where nobody lives. However, coverage is good around the main population centers and over the sea between mainland Panama and the more populated islands.

Moreover, you should not spend more than 3 PAB/USD on SIM cards, and they are often given away for free, depending on the operator.

What will I cover in this video? I will introduce you to +móvil Panama by Cable & Wireless, Claro Panama, Digicel Panama, and Movistar Panama, tell you about their combo plans and data-only plans, and tell you which Panamanian SIM card is the best.
