Belong Mobile Australia Prepaid Plans Explored (2025)

Belong Mobile, officially just Belong, is a low-cost sub-brand by Telstra.

It offers cheaper mobile and broadband services than Telstra itself.

However, customer service with Belong (Mobile) is not as “great” (depending on who you ask) as Telstra.

Be aware that Belong Mobile speeds are restricted to 100 Mbps (except for one plan with speeds up to 250 Mbps).

Coverage – Belong Mobile

Belong Mobile is a Telstra sub-brand, meaning Belong Mobile uses the Telstra network.

Normally, I would tell you to jump back to the Telstra coverage section to see what you can expect with the MVNO.

However, Telstra has two networks: the Full Network, sometimes called the Retail Network, and the Wholesale Network.

Belong Mobile uses the Wholesale network, which covers 98.8% of the population – the Full Network covers 99.5% of the population.

The percentage difference may sound insignificant, but your coverage in a rural area will be significantly worse with Belong Mobile compared to Telstra itself (or Boost Mobile Australia, for that matter).

Moreover, speeds are restricted to 100 Mbps with Belong Mobile (except for one plan).

Why Belong Mobile, a direct sub-brand by Telstra, does not have full access to the Telstra network while Boost Mobile Australia does, I cannot tell.

SIM Card Price – Belong Mobile

You can get a Belong Mobile SIM card for 25 AUD, 35 AUD & 45 AUD from resellers, like grocery stores, electronic stores & post offices (but not in Telstra stores). They are also sold at airports like Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD).

It is also possible to get a Belong Mobile eSIM for the same price as a regular SIM card.

You should consider getting a travel eSIM for Australia because they can sometimes be cheaper than getting a SIM card from possible.

Note that Belong Mobile offers VoLTE (Voice over LTE (4G)) if your phone supports it and you have enabled it in the settings.

Oh, you can also use VoWiFi (Voice over WiFi).

Top-Up, Recharge & Balance Check – Belong Mobile

You can top up your Belong Mobile SIM card on the Belong app (Android/iOS) or online – the same counts for checking your balance. Top-up vouchers are not sold.
