Lobster Spain Prepaid Plans Explored (2025)

Lobster Spain (España), just Lobster but sometimes referred to as Lobster Mobile, is a Movistar Spain MVNO.

It targets British expats (not a term I like to use), and it provides support in English.

But does that mean tourists cannot get a Lobster SIM card? No (else it would not be included in this guide 😜).

Coverage – Lobster Spain

Lobster is a Movistar Spain MVNO, meaning Lobster uses the Movistar Spain network.

Note that you will not have 5G NR access with Lobster.

SIM Card Price – Lobster Spain

You can get a Lobster SIM card for free from Lobster resellers, but you always have to purchase it with a plan (between 10 EUR and 24 EUR). Lobster SIM cards are not sold at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD) or Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport (BCN).

Be aware that Lobster is not as accessible as most MVNOs mentioned in this guide.

For example, you cannot get a Lobster SIM card in Barcelona, in the north of Spain & in the west of Spain.

There is a single store in Madrid, Spain's capital mind you, selling Lobster SIM cards.

So… why did I bother including Lobster in this guide?

Because Lobster SIM cards are available in plenty of stores in the east, south & other touristy places (like Majorca, Palma de Mallorca & Tenerife).

As Lobster targets British expats (not a term I like to use), its resellers are at the locations where the expats are supposed to be (and there are plenty).

But does that mean tourists cannot get a Lobster SIM card? No (else it would not be included in this guide 😜).

Lobster has no eSIMs.

While Lobster does have eSIMs, they are (currently) not offered to prepaid customers.

You can consider getting a travel eSIM for Spain, which can, in specific scenarios, be cheaper than getting a SIM card from Lobster.

Especially if you get a Europe-wide eSIM (for when you visit at least two or more supported European countries) or a global eSIM (for frequent travelers visiting multiple continents).

Be aware that there is no VoLTE or VoWiFi with Lobster.

Top-Up, Recharge & Balance Check – Lobster Spain

You can top up your Lobster SIM card on the Lobster Mobile app (Android/iOS) – the same counts for checking your balance (but you can dial *100# too). Top-up vouchers are not sold.

Lobster has two data-featured prepaid plans: Plans (combo) & Add-On (data).
