New Zealand SIM Card Reviews by Phone Travel Wiz

If you visit(ed) Australia before going to New Zealand, you will be surprised by how expensive mobile data is in Aotearoa.

Although Australians will complain that mobile data costs are high in their country, it is the second-lowest in Oceania (behind Fiji).

But they will quickly change their mind after seeing the cost of data-featured prepaid plans in New Zealand 🤪.

Mostly because New Zealand has the fourth most expensive mobile data rates in Oceania (behind Tokelau, Tuvalu & the Solomon Islands).

But… what are your options in New Zealand?

You have five easily accessible SIM cards for travelers, which I tested during my latest trip to New Zealand.

There are a few other Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) in the country, but they have to be ordered online first or are postpaid only – aka not easily accessible for travelers.

So your options are Spark, One NZ (formerly Vodafone), 2degrees, Skinny Mobile (Spark MVNO with 5G NR access) & Warehouse Mobile (2degrees MVNO without 5G NR access).
