Important Notes and Questions about the Digi Daily Unlimited Internet Roaming Pass

There are a few essential things you need to know about the Daily Unlimited Internet Roaming Pass, which will be highlighted and answered below.

Does the Digi Daily Unlimited Internet Roaming Pass Have Preferred Networks?

Unlike the Digi Roam Like Home Monthly Offers or the Digi Roaming Passes, you do not have to connect to a preferred operator to take advantage of the Unlimited Internet Roaming Pass. Even if your phone automatically connects to another network on the same day, you will only be charged RM36 or RM56 once.

For example, there are two operators in Brunei: DST & Progresif. Brunei is an RM36 country. If your phone is connected to DST in the morning and switches to Progresif in the afternoon, you will only be charged RM36 once.

Will I Be Charge Multiple Times When Visiting Multiple Countries with the Digi Daily Unlimited Internet Roaming Pass?

You will be charged multiple times if you visit multiple countries in one day with the Daily Unlimited Internet Roaming Pass. For example, you go from Estonia to Latvia on the same day. Both Estonia and Latvia are RM36 countries. As a result, you will be charged RM72 (2*RM36) for the Unlimited Internet Roaming Pass for that day.

Let’s say you go from Latvia to Lithuania. Latvia is an RM36 country, while Lithuania is an RM56 country. If you visit both countries in one day, you will be charged RM36 + RM56 = RM92 for the Daily Unlimited Internet Roaming for that day.

When Does the Digi Daily Unlimited Roaming Pass Expire?

Your Daily Unlimited Internet Roaming pass will expire at midnight, according to the capital city time of the roamed country. For example, when visiting Estonia, which only has one time zone, the Daily Unlimited Internet Roaming Pass will expire at 23:59 (11:59 PM) Eastern European Time (+2 GMT).

In Australia, an RM36 country that has multiple time zones with Canberra as the capital city, the Pass will expire at 23:59 (11:59 PM) Australia Eastern Standard Time (+10 GMT). Even if you are in another time zone while in Australia, like Perth that is in Western Australia and uses Australia Western Standard Time (+8 GMT), the pass would still expire at 23:59 (11:59 PM) +10 GMT.

If you use the Unlimited Internet Roaming Pass between 22:00 (10:00 PM) to 23:59 (11:59 PM) while in Perth (+8 GMT), you would be charged RM36 twice (RM72) because it is already a new day in Canberra (+10 GMT).

Be aware that roaming usage is based on GMT, and it does not take Daylight Savings Time into account.

Do I Need to Unsubscribe from the Digi Daily Unlimited Internet Roaming Pass?

The Daily Unlimited Internet Roaming pass will expire automatically at midnight, according to the capital city time of the roamed country. The activation of the Pass will only be triggered once you start data roaming. If you disable data roaming or mobile data in your phone’s settings, the Pass will not reactivate itself.

The Roaming Passes are passes that come with only data, or data and minutes combined, and they can be used in up to 66 countries on select networks around the world. All Roaming Passes are available to Digi Prepaid Customers, while some Roaming Passes are also available to Digi Postpaid customers.

You can also use the MyDigi App (under View Details, select Internet for internet balance or Voice for voice balance).

Digi Standard Roaming Rates for Countries not Covered by any Roaming Pass or Offer

If the country you are going is not covered by any of the roaming plans (Digi Roam Like Home Monthly, Digi Daily Unlimited Internet Roaming Pass, and Digi Roaming Passes), then standard roaming rates apply.

Be aware that standard roaming rates are significantly more expensive than using any of the Digi roaming plans. Voice roaming can cost you up to RM20/min, while data roaming can cost up to RM56 for 10 MB/day.

In countries where standard roaming rates are your only option, you may be better off purchasing a local prepaid SIM card to enjoy lower prices and higher allowances. I have written many SIM card buying guides of places all over the world, including those that fall under Digi’s standard roaming rates.

Digi Inflight Roaming

Digi customers, both Prepaid and Postpaid, can purchase the Digi 12-hour in-flight Internet Roaming Pass to roam on select airlines and planes that use the AeroMobile’s roaming facilities. The inflight roaming pass comes with 500 MB for 12 hours and costs RM20.

Should You Roam with Digi?

Digi has several attractive roaming plans that make international roaming with Digi worth it. Those with a Digi Postpaid plan have more affordable roaming options that those with a Digi Prepaid SIM card.

As long as one follows the conditions for the roaming offer or Pass, such as selecting the correct preferred operator, you can save a lot of money compared to standard roaming rates.

As a result, roaming with Digi can certainly be worth it and a relatively affordable way to stay connected abroad.
