MTEL Switzerland Prepaid Plans Explored (2025)

MTEL Switzerland, just MTEL, is a Salt Switzerland MVNO.

It is, at the time of writing, the newest MVNO in the country.

As a result, it is a bit more challenging to get an MTEL SIM card because they are (currently) only sold in MTEL stores, but there are less than ten in the country.

But its plans are rather generous compared to its competition, such as free calls and SMS to MTEL phone numbers in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro & Serbia.

Coverage – MTEL Switzerland

MTEL is a Salt Switzerland MVNO, meaning MTEL uses the Salt Switzerland network and does not have its own mobile infrastructure.

SIM Card Price – MTEL Switzerland

You can get an MTEL SIM card for 15 CHF with 10 GB of data and 10 000 local/EU minutes for 25 days in MTEL stores.

Registration can be done in MTEL stores or online.

MTEL has no eSIMs.

Note that the Swiss mobile operators require your identification (EU ID/passport) for (future) eSIMs and for physical SIM cards.

You can consider getting a travel eSIM for Switzerland, which can, in specific scenarios, be cheaper than getting a SIM card from Swisscom.

Especially if you get a Europe-wide eSIM (for when you visit at least two or more supported European countries) or a global eSIM (for frequent travelers visiting multiple continents).
