Can I roam on planes with Jazz?
Jazz is the first operator in Pakistan to offer inflight roaming capabilities to its Postpaid customers (not available to Prepaid customers).
Mobile Inflight Roaming is available with Air France & Emirates through OnAir & AeroMobile where you can make voice calls, send text messages, and use mobile data while in the air.
Right now, inflight roaming is available on one Emirates and One Air France aircraft.
The service will slowly be added to other airplanes in their fleets and other airlines.
It is unfortunately not possible to tell you on which routes inflight roaming is available. However, these planes fly to various European destinations such as:
- Barcelona
- Casablanca
- Frankfurt
- Hamburg
- London
- Munich
- Paris
- Prague
- Rome
- Venice
- Vienna
- Warsaw
You just have to be lucky you are on those lucky planes. Once I manage to obtain the planes' registrations, I will share them with you on this post.

How much does Jazz Mobile Inflight Roaming cost?
- Incoming Inflight Roaming calls start from $4.34/m
- Calls to Pakistan costs at least $2.76/m
- Sending a text message will cost you at least $0.77
- Incoming text messages are free
- Data roaming charges start at $0.001/KB

4. Calls to Satellite, Premium rate, and Emergency numbers may be charged at higher rates by foreign operators

Is Jazz Inflight Roaming worth it?
Roaming on a plane is expensive. Both incoming and outgoing calls start from at least $2.76/min. Outgoing text messages are cheap compared to calls starting at $0.77.
Even then, unless the situation is urgent that you need to reach out to someone immediately, you may be better off waiting until you have arrived at your destination to call your friends and family.
Regarding onboard data roaming, onboard WIFI packages are almost always cheaper than what you get charged for per MB when data roaming on a plane.
I would recommend exploring the WIFI capabilities before enabling inflight data roaming. It could prevent bill shock.
If the plane or airline you are flying with does not offer inflight WIFI, you could always enjoy the inflight entertainment system.
If that is not available… then I hope you have brought something to entertain yourself with onboard. Else you can just sleep – always a good option when bored!

Is Jazz Maritime Roaming worth it?
Roaming on a ship can become expensive very quickly.
If you decide to pick up an incoming call, it could cost you anywhere between $0.19/min to $6.32/min depending on the operator.
Phone calls like these cause bill shock.
It is recommended not to roam while on a vessel and to make use of the onboard WiFi network if the ship offers this option so that you can text and call through internet-based apps, like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or Skype.
Else you may be better being offline for the remainder of your crossing.
Is roaming with Jazz worth it?
Jazz offers incredible roaming options to its customers.
Postpaid users can take advantage of more perks and discounts compared to Prepaid customers.
However, the 15 000 rupee deposit is unfortunate, as we would rather spend that money on actual travel instead of keeping it locked at Jazz.
You could spend that money on a local SIM card.
I cannot stress it enough that if you are in a destination that offers 30 rupees/MB (Postpaid), make sure to select the correct operator, else you may be charged $10/MB – that would be a shame.
Besides that, I am happy to see that Jazz is offering almost everything you can ask for in terms of roaming. More Pakistani providers could follow Jazz' footsteps.
