International roaming has been an important selling factor for the big 4 American telecom providers.
However, not much is known about the Mobile Virtual Network Operators like Mint Mobile.
Today, I decided to analyze your roaming options with Mint Mobile to determine if it would be worth it or not. Let's get right into it.

Is Mint Mobile UpRoam worth it?
Mint Mobile UpRoam offers competitive roaming rates in terms of calling and texting while abroad, especially in Canada and Mexico, where the rates are even lower. The prices for the other supported destinations are straightforward as well.
However, as always, it highly depends on how much you think you will be using your phone while abroad.
If you expect to be calling home every day for an hour seven days in a row, then UpRoam is not worth it, as it becomes too expensive.
If you just want to call a person or two for a few minutes, then UpRoam will be worth it.
In terms of Data Roaming, I discourage users from data roaming if it is not included for free or if you do not get several MB/GB per day at a set price or free of charge.
If you are already on a low data cap plan at home, then you have realized how quickly data vanishes while browsing the web. The same will happen when traveling, although it will be much more expensive.
As Mint Mobile UpRoam charges you per MB, I would not recommend to data roam while abroad and connect to WIFI hotspots. Even paid hotspots may be cheaper than international data roaming in most cases.
In short, Mint Mobile UpRoam can be worth it if you use it in moderation. Else you will be better off getting a local SIM card, an international SIM card, or using WIFI connections when you can. Otherwise, you can use the lack of roaming as an excuse to be offline for a while :)

Is it worth to call internationally with Mint Mobile?
International phone calls to landline and mobile phones can be affordable depending on the destination.
For example, calling to the United Kingdom will cost you $0.01/m if calling to a landline phone and $0.015/m to mobile phones.
Calling for an hour to your grandparents who still use landline phones will cost you only $0.60.
However, some destinations are insanely expensive. Calls to the Maldives will cost you either $0.62/min or $0.65/min.
That one-hour phone call would be $37.2 or $39 – not cheap at all!
So, it depends on to what destinations you wish to call to, how often, whether to a landline or mobile phone, and the duration of the calls. In most cases, international calls with Mint Mobile are worth it if done in moderation.
I would always recommend staying in touch through an internet-based app like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or Skype, as this is much more affordable (if WIFI is being used).
adly, that is not always possible, and I do not think a landline phone would know how to handle a WhatsApp video call ;)
